We made a gingerbread house from scratch. We made the dough and the frosting, cut out the shapes, baked it, built it, and decorated. Its a much longer process than we imagined. We had some problems with a roof falling off, and we were set back a bit when dad ate a cat (Tux) and three logs but by the end most of us were master gingersmiths. Our flavorful creation was a source of pride that by now is mostly digested.
Emily was the sculptor of the cats.

Found Denim Internship!
My internship is super fun. I run errands all around downtown L.A. and do other random stuff like cut strings off of newly sewn jeans. The designers are two cute girls who look to be in their mid 20's, they are very nice.
On Tuesday I got two free pairs of jeans! I was running errands with one of the designers, Sara, and while she was eating some food at a cute little downtown cafe she says, "You should take some jeans today." So I said, "ok!" ..and I did. They retail around $200 bucks each. Yay!
Here are some pictures similar to the jeans I got:

Sarah is the best!
Happy Birthday Sarah!!!!!!!!
(I meant to put this up yesterday....but then I fell asleep. Oops!)
Sarah, I am so so so glad you are my sister! You have always been a good a good example to me. You are super motivated to do what is right, you have a genuine helping and loving personality, you are very talented with anything you try (piano, singing, dancing, running, skateboarding, many more), and I can always count on you for an adventure! I love how you always want to go outside with me whether its riding bikes, climbing trees, playing badminton, or jumping on the trampoline. It is nice to have someone around that shares the same love for the outdoors and being active. I wish I could have been near on your birthday! One of these days I will be close and I can come visit on your birthday. Yipeeeeee! Have a happy happy birthday week, and remember that I, along with your friends and family, are super glad you are alive! You make the world a happier place. I love you Sarah!

Fears: good and bad
"Fear is the outcome of weakness, a coward’s friend, an enemy of firmness. Fear of death is the cause of all human fears. One who wins the fear of death wins himself. He is the one who wins the freedom. From his mental prison."
~ V.Prabhakaran. quotes
This is the quote that was in the quote box. However, I don't know if I really agree with it, and/or like it. What do you think of it?
"Fear is the outcome of weakness" Is fear really the outcome of weakness? Or is the real weakness what we do with our fears. I don't believe that anyone has lived a life without fear. Do we let the fear ruin our lives and dwell upon that fear, or do we work to overcome it? Some fears we don't want to overcome...and I don't think that is always a weakness either. My "fear" of smoking or doing drugs seemed to have protected me instead of making me weak. The fear actually helped to shape and create my values.
How do we know the definition of weakness? One person's weakness may be another person's strength. Surely the person who is liked and constantly around people has no weaknesses! hmm, but does he have the strength to stand alone? Maybe not.
"a coward’s friend, an enemy of firmness" Being afraid of something does not make you a coward! Like I said before, it is what we do with that fear, how we view it... and is it really a fear? I am not a coward for not wanting to stick a sword down my throat. Yes I would be afraid to do this, but do I let this fear affect my life? No! I could care less about sticking a sword in my throat! So this fear doesn't affect me, and it does not make me a coward.
"Fear of death is the cause of all human fears." To me this could be be true if "all" was replaced with "some" , but I felt it was terrible placement in this quote. I really did not feel that it flowed correctly into this subject. Death is not the cause of all human fears. Sometimes people who are alive scare me, and I don't think that this fear has anything to do with death.
"One who wins the fear of death wins himself. He is the one who wins the freedom. From his mental prison." Perhaps if someone did completely overcome the fear of death (I don't know if it's possible to completely rid the fear of death!) he would feel free in the mind. However, this quote does not hit the spot because I do fear death, but I would not describe myself as being in a state of mental prison because of this fear.
I don't think that all people who win the fear of death are free either! I believe that a person commiting suicide loses his fear of death for at least a split second. Does this fearless moment mean that he is freed from his mental prison? Doubtful! If nowone feared death we would all be dying. This fear is what keeps us on this earth longer, living, learning, and progressing. Fears can be good and do not always bring us to our demise!

The Gecko Scare
I was doing dishes a few weeks ago when I look down and saw a baby gecko floating in the water. I was so sad! I love geckos! They are cute and they eat bugs! For sure he had drowned. He was so small and cute, and not moving. I was going to dump him down the drain, but then I decided to take him out of the water. I took him out and his legs started squirming. He was alive! And he still is. I see him on the wall now from time to time, and I am so glad he lived! I am glad I didn't dump him down the drain!

Nathan and I were not able to go to the Greek Food Festival due to a lack of funds...twas a very sad predicament. We were in need of good food so we made curry potatoes and Naan bread/pita bread.
Today, I was walking to my car after a long day of statistics when I saw this lovely sight!
She was singing while she walked and I really wanted to talk to her.

Here I am with my GMK friends at the food bank!
The "cooler" temperatures (91 degrees) brought us all outdoors on this glorious evening. If you look at the handstands sideways, it looks like Melanie, Sarah, and Nathan are pushing the earth through space in attempt to save it from the hot sun and global warming. Nathan hang on!

West!
This morning I went west like Fievel. I don't know why it never occurred to me to ride my bike that direction, north on Renfro past Stockdale, and then west, west, west! There's lots to explore, and beautiful houses, horses, giant yards, lots of trees and open fields. Hurrah for west. Poo-rah for the suburbs.
I was chased by a dog.
Also, I wanted to contribute this photo, which Melanie took and didn't post.

eating on the couch
haha I like your picture Nathan. I don't know what the meaning is either! What a strange sight!
My picture was taken super quick right before I went to work when I realized I needed to take a picture. Welcome to a part of my morning! (Sorry Nathan, I know you've seen this sight many a times... i'll think of something different tomorrow!)

Random Stuff
Mom wanted to see the official "boy" picture from the ultrasound. Here it is!
Also i saw this girls blog once, and every morning she and one of her friends took a picture of something they saw that morning and posted it on the blog at the beginning of the day. Does anyone want to try to do this with me? I think it would be cool to see what everyone sees in the morning. It doesn't have to be anything spectacular either. It just has to be something ordinary from your morning, for example: a view out the window, a picture of your breakfast, your messy bed, etc. I might be hard to do it every morning, but I think it would be fun to try!
